The Gravecast Film Series

For those of you who are interested or who’ve been following my blog. For your viewing, and listening enjoyment I’ve uploaded seven new grave hunting related videos to my You Tube page. I’d post them all here but there’s just too many to showcase.

Here’s a rundown on what the videos are about. Several videos are on Congressional Medal of Honor Recipients from various wars, I’ve also got the leftover footage of what I had from Elmwood cemetery, there’s also some brand new stuff on Woodmere cemetery, I also have some stuff on my page for a new project I’m working on. In relation to the grave sites of Detroit prohibition era Purple Gang members. The Purple Gang gravesites video series is a work in progress but Part I of the series is already available for viewing.

On a final note when you have the time feel free to check out the videos, and if you wish it’s always much appreciated if you leave me some feedback. I’m always trying different ways to improve my narration, and general video creation skills.

Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery

Here are two new videos I’ve recently uploaded to my You Tube Page. The first one is entitled “A Walk Through Holy Sepulchre Cemetery: Hollywood Types” in this particular video I take you to visit the grave site of Jay Sebring who had the misfortune of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. And that was he was murdered with his friends Sharon Tate, Abagail Folger and a few of their friends.  At the hands of Charles Manson and his motley crew of followers. The other person in the Hollywood Types video is Helen Carey who won an Academy Award and an Oscar for various short animated films she created which played in between movies during a matinée showing.

The second video is part one of the athletes of Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Included in part one is a former owner of the Major League Baseball Team The Detroit Tigers, as well as various baseball stars, a hockey player or two, etc. I still have some more footage to work on for that cemetery so stay tuned.

Elmwood Cemetery Detroit, Elmwood Cemetery Video, The Gravecast Film Series

Here are two more videos I’ve shot at Elmwood Cemetery in Downtown Detroit. I have one more  uploading to my You Tube page which I’ll post later. These three videos will be the last three from Elmwood for the time being.

I still have some footage that needs to be edited from Workman Circle Cemetery where Harry Millman who was a torpedo for the Purple Gang here in Detroit back in the 1920s is buried. As well as some footage from Machpelah Cemetery where we visit a WWII medal of Honor Recipient and several other Jewish Purple Gangsters.

I also have some footage from Holy Sepulcher in Southfield where I’ve shot footage of several athletes grave sites from back in the day, a Manson Family murder victim Jay Sebring, along with a few others. Woodmere cemetery not to be confused with Woodlawn cemetery where I visited some business magnates, along with some other Detroit history personages.

Grave Hunting Video Hollywood Grave Hunting, Grave Hunting With Steve: A Journey Beneath Los Angeles Review, Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery, Hollywood Forever Cemetery

Recently I obtained a copy of the grave hunting documentary DVD “Grave Hunting With Steve:  A Journey Beneath Los Angeles” which is a film by Ken Goldstein and is hosted by well known celebrity grave hunter and a friend of mine Steve Goldstein.

In the video Steve takes you to three Los Angeles area cemeteries (Holy Cross, Hollywood Forever, & Hillside Memorial Park) While not covering every famous person in those cemeteries he shows you the grave sites of various historic figures from the golden age of film and other historical aspects of LA history. While at the same time discussing interesting stories about the stars in the documentary, and personal recollections of being a grave hunter.  There is a full cast of stars mentioned in the documentary including such luminaries as Cecil B. DeMille, Rudolph Valentino, John Huston, Moe Howard and a wide range of characters who would no doubt fill the roster of any A list film from back in the day.

The documentary is 23 minutes long and includes various scenery shots inside the cemetery.  On a lighter note Steve has mentioned to me that the film will be shown on the big screen in Anaheim this August at the Indie Film Festival. That in its self will be a great opportunity for the documentary to get out there for people just like you to see.

Also worth noting this DVD is a companion supplement to Steve’s recently published book LA’s Graveside Companion: Where The V.I.P’s R.I.P. 2009 Schiffer Publishing. You can order this book online via Amazon,  your favorite book retail site, locally in LA at most bookstores, or from the publisher.

On a final note this documentary is a very well put together project. It should make a nice edition to your death hag/grave hunting DVD library.  Also if your interested in obtaining your very own copy of this facinating film you can find it on Amazon or directly from the publisher by clicking Here. The DVD is for sale at the outrageously discounted price of $9.95+shipping.
