It’s been a year since I have posted anything. The last time I resurrected the website back from the dead I was dealing with some health issues. Well, I’m happy to say I’m all healed up from what I was dealing with. On top of that, I have a part-time job now. I’m going to make a serious effort to post on the blog. Being that its the dead of winter I’ll be covering other topics related to cemeteries and death. So please stay tuned to that.

The Resurrection of Gravecast

03 Friday Jun 2016

Two years ago I decided to take a much-needed break from producing content for this blog. I’ll be honest I was burned out to the point where I lost total interest. As those two years progressed I kept the blog live for people to read because despite the insane life I lead people do read about my adventures. Plus I always knew in the back of my skull I’d want to pick-up writing for the site again.

Let me bring you up to speed with where I’ve been during my two-year furlough. I’ve had some health issues off and on over the last several years which led me to be hospitalized a few times to eventually having surgery. To make a long story short I’m feeling 100% better. Those Henry Ford Health Sytems surgeons ROCK.

Which brings me to today. Being that I have no cross-country trips planned in the foreseeable future. This doesn’t include a possible weekend road trip to who knows where just as long as I drive. I do have a few day trips to Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, and a few other places in Michigan planned to check out the cemeteries. Meanwhile, to help things get rolling again I’m going to do a “Tombstone Tuesday” theme where every Tuesday I’ll post a gravesite photo from my collection. I’ll include some history to who’s buried six-feet under. I have some other things planned as well so please stay tuned.

For those of you reading this. I want to let you know, that everything is still a go on The Gravecast Blog. I’ve just been taking a much-needed break from blogging, along with doin some much-needed soul-searching. But enough about my personal life. On the positive side of things, I do realize that I haven’t published any new content in about three or four months. But rest assured, I’ll be publishing new content in the very near future.

I wont blow the lid, on ALL of the things I’ve got planned. But lets just say it involves a lot of morbidly death stuff. Topics, and ideas I thought of during my soul-searching phases. Trust me it’ll benefit you all in one way or another. There will still be plenty of grave hunting involved. But just a bunch of new articles, on a wide range of death topics. The last two articles I published a few months ago are a sampling of what I’ve got in mind, plus much more.

At the moment I’m also contemplating taking an extended weekend trip to Cleveland, or a 7-day trip to L.A. I just gotta see how the $$$ holds out. If I go out to L.A. for the third time, I might bring a friend, with me, plus I’ll have to get a hotel, rental car, spending cash, etc. The same dimensions of extra spending go for Cleveland as well. So we shall see.

The long end short of it, is I just wanted to let you all know this blog isn’t dead, it’s just had a rebirth. Before I go, if ANYONE has ANY topic ideas, for the blog, and podcast, please don’t hesitate to let me know. There’s gonna be more to come you can count on it.

Sincerely,

The Motor City Morbid One!

Elmwood Cemetery Detroit, Flat Stanley, Woodlawn Cemetery Detroit

Last August one of my grave hunting friends who lives in Pennsylvania. Asked me if I’d do a small favor for her daughter who had a school project for the Summer. The school project my friend’s daughter had been to snail mail this adorable paper doll nicknamed “Flat Stanley” to friends around the United States, and the World. So they could then photograph “Flat Stanley” at various local landmarks. When “Flat Stanley” arrived at my home, I was really unsure of what to do with the little guy.

So I opted to introduce “Flat Stanley” and give him a crash course in the hobby known as Grave Hunting. So with that being said “Flat Stanley” and I visited the gravesites of notable people who at one time or another called the city of Detroit home. Below you will find the photographs I took of my new little friend at the gravesites of notable Detroiter’s. If your interested in learning about this phenom known as “Flat Stanley” I recommend that you visit Flat Stanley.com

Grauman's Chinese Theater, Hollywood, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Hollywood Walk Of Fame, Los Angeles, Marilyn Monroe, Marilyn Monroe's Star on the Walk of Fame

As many of you guys are probably aware. When it comes to things that have to do with Hollywood, grave hunting, dead celebrities,  yada yada. I always step up to the plate, and do my part, to promote things that interest me on the blog. Its been brought to my attention that some friends of mine out in Hollywood, are trying to get things in motion, with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. To have Marilyn Monroe’s star on the “Hollywood Walk Of Fame” moved to a more prominent and respectable location.

At the moment Marilyn Monroe’s star is in front of a McDonald’s restaurant franchise, and is always littered with expired food, beverages dumped on the ground, etc. My extremely good friend, Detroit native, Hollywood preservationist, Scott Michaels has taken up the task to get the petition rolling, to have Monroe’s star relocated in front of the historic Grauman’s Chinese Theater. This is the theater Monroe loved during her time in Hollywood, so its only proper that her star be relocated to the place she loved the most.

So with that being said Scott needs 10k petition signatures, for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to even consider relocating Marilyn Monroe’s star. If your interested in signing the petition please visit the official petition page at change.org
