I’ve recently uploaded some new graveside documentary films to my You Tube page. For those of you who are interested. The two films I’ve uploaded are on gangster Sam DeStefano, and Antonio Lombardo.

Vol. XIV which is on notorious Chicago loan shark, and maniacal hitman  Mad Sam DeStefano. Who you will find out was murdered in the garage of his home.

Vol. XV chronicles the life of Capone adviser, and one time Union Siciliana President Antonio Lombardo. I hope you enjoy watching the above posted films. I’ve got several more I’m working on in the Gangsters In Granite series. Before I dive into footage I’m re-editing from Detroit area cemeteries.

"Where Are They Buried? How Did They Die? Fitting Ends & Final Resting Places of The Famous, and Noteworthy", Infamous

Where Are They Buried? How Did They Die? Fitting Ends & Final Resting Places of the Famous, Infamous, and Noteworthy (Revised & Updated Edition) By Tod Benoit

Black Dog & Leventhal Publishers; Revised & Updated edition August 2009 ISBN: 978-1579128227 pages: 590; softcopy; price: $14.95

Have you ever wondered where your childhood idol from history is buried? Perhaps, you thought about where that long forgotten actor who had the starring role on your favorite TV show is laid to rest? Or maybe to feed the macabre thoughts deep inside your mind you have a downright obsession with visiting the gravesites of anyone who had anything to do with the world of film, literature, politics, crime, history, military, etc.

Well if you’ve answered yes to any of the above questions? The next time you’re at the local bookshop you might be interested in the book “Where Are They Buried? How Did They Die? Fitting Ends & Final Resting Places of The Famous, Infamous, and Noteworthy” by Tod Benoit. This book is a treasure trove of short biographical narratives, of over 450 personages from the world of film, crime, politics, literature, great minds, etc.

The book has twelve chapters. These chapters range from topics such as Gen-X Standouts, Baby Boomer Icons, Sports Heroes, Television & Film Personalities, Popular Music Icons, Notable Figures from History, among others. Woven throughout the book are graveside photos, and head shot photos, of the personalities featured on the pages of the book.

One of the things I really liked about Where Are They Buried? How Did They Die? was that included with each biographical narration are instructions w/driving directions on how to find the gravesite in the cemetery. Another thing I thought was extremely helpful especially for people who have no clue what they’re doing. Is that near the back of the book there are instructions on how to go about doing research ie finding/tracking down gravesites.

All in all this is a fantastic book. I highly recommend picking it up the next time you’re at your local bookstore, or surfing around your favorite book retail site.

Tod Benoit, Where Are They Buried? How Did They Die? by Tod Benoit

Well to bring you all up to speed on some things. I’ve been totally swamped with furthering my educational studies at school. If you don’t already know I’m going to school to become a post production film editor, or filmmaker. I’ve got the utmost wish to leave Michigan, and head west to sunny LA within 6 years from now. Despite being bogged down with school, I’m here to stay (for the time being), it’s not that I really planned on going anywhere, or had the mere thought of shutting down this blog (which is the last thing I’d do). I’m just swamped with my educational endeavors at this very moment.

Now with all that said and done. Despite the lack of updates to this blog, besides a few blurbs here and there. I’ve got some things planned being that this is the off-season for grave hunting with Michigan being under a few inches if not a few feet of snow. Up until next Spring when I get the ball rolling again, where I’ll be visiting the local cemeteries near you. I’ll be re-editing, and uploading, old cemetery video footage I’ve recorded in the past to give those videos a voice-over, and photo montage treatment.

I’m also trying to finish reading the book “Where Are They Buried? How Did They Die?” by Tod Benoit. I’ve got about 100 or so pages to read. After that’s finished I’ll be doing a review on the revised & updated version of that book. To give you guys a brief run down on the book. It offers biographical narratives on a plethora of luminaries from film, sports, history, literature, politics, etc. It’s a very enjoyable read. Not to mention it also includes detailed instructions (which I’ve put to the test) on how to find the gravesites of the subjects in the book.

One final thing I’d like to mention. I’m currently re-editing the graveside video on Roger Touhy who was a notorious Northwest side Chicago gangster during the roaring 20s. I finished the voice-over earlier today, so the video should be up on You Tube with a direct link and viewable clip on this blog, by the end of the week. So please stay tuned.

Once again for those of you who are interested and/or who follow this blog, and the videos I create and upload to You Tube. I’ve recently uploaded the latest installment of the popular “Gangsters In Granite” series to You Tube. Feel free to check out the latest installment to the “Gangsters In Granite” series below.

This film is on “Ragtime” Joe Howard? I bet you’re wondering just who “Ragtime” Joe was. Well for starters he wasn’t really anyone of huge importance. He was just a small time hood during the roaring 20s era in Chicago.

His only real claim to fame happens to be that he allegedly slapped around Greasy Thumb Jake Guzik, who was an alleged pimp, and Al Capone’s financial wizard of sorts. Well to make a long story short Al Capone found out about this little slap happy episode then took it upon him self and pumped six bullets into the body of “Ragtime” Joe.

So that’s the brief and concise story of “Ragtime” Joe. Feel free to rate my film, favorite it if you like, and by all means let me know what you think. I really enjoy and take to heart the positive, and constructive feedback I get on my films.
