Holy Cross Cemetery Photo Slideshow/Montage

This is a video slideshow/photo montage I created using the photos I shot at Holy Cross cemetery, in Culver City, California. Each celebrity gravesite photo is accompanied by a portrait of that celebrity. This will probably be the first of many slideshows/photo montages I create. Keep in mind my editing skills are still a bit choppy until I get the hang of things.

Me & my good friend Scott Michaels, after having dinner with some grave hunting friends, at The El Coyote Cafe Mexican restaurant, in Los Angeles (2011).

Hey what’s going on my loyal readers, I wanted to bring you all up to speed on a few things. Well first things first, I’m in the process of putting the finishing touches on episode 12 of The Gravecast Show Podcast. Where Steve Goldstein, and yours truly interviewed noted author, historian, and fellow grave hunter Michael Barry about his books and grave hunting in general.

The other thing I wanted to mention is the fact that I’m going to be heading back to Los Angeles, this October 2012 coming up. I’ll be in the area from October 2nd through the 15th. While I’m in Tinseltown, grave hunting until my heart’s content, I’m also planning on taking part in the First Annual Death Hag Weekend festivities. The First Annual Death Hag Weekend is being organized by my good friend, fellow Detroit native, grave hunter, celebrity death guru, and all around good guy, Scott Michaels. At the event I’ll be rubbing elbows with other like-minded personages who have an interest in celebrity death, and the gravesites of famous people. If you’re gonna be in Hollywood the first weekend of October, make a point to take part in this monumental gathering of like-minded people.

Anyway if you’re not familiar with Scott’s reputation. Let me bring you up to speed on that, Scott is the webmaster/curator over at the highly acclaimed Find A Death.com celebrity death website. Not only that he’s the owner of the Hollywood based Dearly Departed Tours. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Dearly Departed Tours, the three-hour tour is a unique approach to the typical Hollywood sight-seeing, venue. If your like me and have an interest in the deaths of celebrities, and you’re gonna be in Hollywood anytime soon, you gotta take Scott’s tour. The tour is bar none one of the best sight-seeing venues in Hollywood. Anyway that is all for now.

Book Review: Who's Buried In Grant's Tomb: A Tour of Presidential Gravesites by Brian Lamb

Who’s Buried In Grant’s Tomb: A Tour of Presidential Gravesites by Brian Lamb

Published by Public Affairs Books; Revised & Updated Third Ed, February 2010; ISBN 9781586488697; Pages: 247; Price: $16.95 U.S./$21.50 Canada.

One of the books I have in my growing grave hunting/cemetery book library. Is an interesting approach to the typical cemetery/grave hunting related books you’d find in your local bookstore or on websites like Amazon. The literary work I’m talking about is “Who’s Buried In Grant’s Tomb: A Tour of Presidential Gravesites” by Brian Lamb.

“Who’s Buried In Grant’s Tomb: A Tour of Presidential Gravesites” chronicles the lives (and usually the death’s) of each of the forty-four United States Presidents starting with our nations first President George Washington, and ending with our current President Barack Obama. Each biographical sketch between the covers of this fabulous book is narrated with a concise life story of the President being discussed.

Each biographical narrative of the forty-four Presidents, highlights that Presidents life, during his time in the Oval Office. Each well written concise biography also chronicles their lives after leaving office. Some of the highlights you will be overwhelmed with fascination include some of the positive, and negative impacts each President had on the American public while in office.

Some of the features you will find nestled in this book includes the statistical data of each President when he was in office, their birth/death dates, age at death, cause of death, in most cases their final words, etc. Another tidbit I find really fascinating is an imprint of each Presidents signature which is off to the side at the beginning of their respective biographical narratives.

This book includes forty-eight pages of beautiful glossy photos of Presidential gravesites (for those who’ve died) in many cases their official libraries, and homes they grew up in. Also included in the book in Appendix A through F is even more statistical data which includes lists of cemeteries the Presidents are buried in, who died in office, length of retirement after leaving office, gravesites by state, and presidential libraries.

Finally to close. This book is a must have for your collection. If your into Presidential history, American history, grave hunting, and things of that sort. While politics is not really my forte, I was easily blown away by what I learned about our nations forty-four Presidents. Needless to say I HIGHLY recommend this book.

In episode 11 of The Gravecast Show Podcast, Steve Goldstein and myself, got a chance recently to interview The Godfather of Grave Hunting, Roger Sinclair. This was a highly informative, AND fun interview with The Godfather himself. During the interview Roger reminisces about past experiences grave hunting in Southern California. We also go into a question and answer segment, which brought to life many of Rogers thoughts about the hobby. I’m sure you will enjoy this interview, it was a total honor to interview The Godfather of Grave Hunting. Lastly, I’d like to mention the intro music you hear serenading your ears before the podcast segment. Was created by my good friend and musician Stephen Gresso. If your interested in hearing more of Stephens musical tracks please visit http://www.tunecore.com/music/christ_fallen
