Yesterday since the weather nice, and I had a day off from my studies & school. I decided to do a little cemetery exploration. Once again my friend and grave hunting partner Beth came along, so we went over to Elmwood cemetery. I don’t know what it is about that cemetery. The photo op’s are endless. Not to mention the historical aspect of the cemetery is something to write a book about.
Speaking of books about the cemetery. There is one book “Elmwood Endures: History of a Detroit Cemetery” by Michael Franck. I highly recommend the book as it offers a treasure trove of info about the notable people buried in the cemetery. I’ve had my copy I dunno how many years. I’m about due to get a new copy, as the one I have has a ton of writing and highlighted markings in it.
Moving along, Beth, and I didn’t really find anyone notable or famous. I asked her if she wanted a tour of the cemetery, or to just frolic randomly around the cemetery, and check out the abundance of monumental structures within the confines of this historic cemetery. She chose the latter, so off we went. For your viewing enjoyment I’ve included several photographs of monuments I captured.
Now that I have that out-of-the-way. I’m gonna be finishing up the editing process of the 5th episode of The Grave Hunting Podcast in the next day or so. It will be uploaded to the blog by this Sunday at the latest. So please stay tuned for that.
